The Kalispell City Council is accepting comments on a Supplemental Environmental Assessment on the potential effects of proposed changes to the Glacier Rail Park and Kalispell Trail Project until 5 p.m. on Nov. 19.

The assessment for the Glacier Rail Park and the Kalispell Trail Project was completed by the city of Kalispell and the Federal Railroad Administration.

Before the FRA makes a final decision on the proposed changes, the federal agency and the city will consider comments received during the comment period.

An original assessment was completed in 2017 but the recent study looks to update the evaluation of the “potential impacts to the human and natural environment” based on proposed changes to the trail portion of the project.

The Supplemental Environmental Assessment can be found online on the city’s website at https://www.kalispell.com/164/Community-Development and FRA’s website at https://www.fra.dot.gov/Page/P1038. Hard copies of the SEA are also available for viewing at Kalispell City Hall, 201 First Avenue East (request at Water Department Desk) and ImagineIF Libraries Kalispell, 247 First Avenue East, (request at Reference Department).

Public comments can be sent via email to Katharine King at kking@kalispell.com. Written comments should be addressed to Katharine King, City of Kalispell Community and Economic Development Department, 201 First Ave. E.
