Dr. Hans W Polte, 85, passed away on Oct. 13, 2019, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gorlitz, Germany, Hans was the oldest of two sons born to Johannes and Margarete Polte.

Following the Second World War, Hans emigrated to Springfield, Ohio, where he met his wife, of 57 years, Nancy (died 2014).

Hans became an accomplished tennis player, playing collegiately for Ohio State University and throughout his life. Following graduation, Hans entered the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of colonel and served as Chief of Oral Surgery. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1985, after a decorated career that included serving in Vietnam and being awarded the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.

At retirement, Hans and Nancy moved to Kalispell where they thoroughly enjoyed the next 30 years, the community, and their many friends in the valley.

Hans is survived by his daughter Lori, son Scott, five grandchildren, and his brother Gunter. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place and his remains are buried alongside Nancy’s at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell. A remembrance for family and friends will be held next spring in Kalispell.

Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory.
