Whitefish police investigating incident involving young women at downtown bar
The Whitefish Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred over the weekend at Casey’s Bar in downtown Whitefish involving three female patrons who were transported to the hospital after collapsing or losing consciousness, according to a press release.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday, Oct. 27. According to the press release, the three individuals involved did not know one another and were treated and released.
While the police department’s press release states “the only known substance detected through the initial investigation is alcohol,” a post on the bar’s Facebook page states “Casey’s is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests. This past Saturday night, there were multiple incidents of the criminal use of a ‘date rape’ drug at our establishment.”
However, the police department’s press release states “due to unsubstantiated information on social media, the Whitefish Police Department will provide further accurate information once the investigation is completed.”
Evidence has been submitted to the Montana Crime Lab for analysis, and the victims, Casey’s and the police department are all cooperating in an ongoing investigation of the incident.
