Georgina (Gina) Kay Lanfear Owen, 69

| September 2, 2019 5:52 PM

Gina went to be with the Lord on Aug. 21, 2019, at her home in Kalispell with her husband by her side.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Owen, of 54 years, sons Robert Jr. (Joyce) and granddaughter Nicole from Florence, Montana, Roger (Lisa) and grandsons Baylee and Ryse and granddaughter Meggan from California, brothers Reggie (Cate), Bobby (Lori), Larry (Barbara) Moore from Goldcreek, Montana, Gary Blanton from Seguin, Texas, and sister-in-law Cathy Owen from Kalispell, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister Connie and brother Robert Lanfear Jr.

Gina was born in Anaconda to Robert and Alice Lanfear on Jan. 18, 1950. The family soon moved to Kalispell. Gina worked throughout her lifetime at various restaurants in the area and co-owned several businesses with husband Bob. Being around Gina was always a joy, including when she was at work. She always smiled, strived to make others happy and had something good to say about everyone. She enjoyed baking, cooking and having the family over for a good meal.

Fishing in the Flathead River was her passion. When floating the river, Bob would row the raft while Gina would fish. She had several “favorite” fishing holes including two on the same side of the river. Bob “better not” miss one or he would hear about it. Gina was a wonderful storyteller, remembering interesting and entertaining details about her life’s journey. Gina couldn’t say no to a stray dog or cat, always having a warm place in her heart for animals. Gina lovingly supported neighborhood children during family crises with a hot meal and warm bed. She never refused to help others in need.

A memorial service to celebrate Gina will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Smith Valley Grange, on Highway 2.
