9/11 memorial event planned near Bigfork

In recognition of Patriot’s Day, the 9/11 Honor and Serve Foundation will host a 9/11 Memorial Event in remembrance of the fallen and the heroes of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States and the attack in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.

The ceremony will begins at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at Averill’s Elk Preserve. Take Montana 35 south from Bigfork 3 miles, then turn left on Quarter Circle Lane and follow the signs. Everyone is invited to join in this free community event.

This year the 9/11 Benghazi Monument has been expanded with a beautiful plaque which tells the story of the events in Benghazi Libya, on Sept. 11 and 12, 2012.

The Honor and Serve Foundation is committed to the principle of “Honor Through Service.” As part of an annual tradition, the foundation recognizes and supports a different charity for its dedicated efforts in serving the community

Immediately following the memorial event, a social fundraiser to support “PLAN BEE,” a veterans assistance program led by U.S. Marine Sgt. Veteran Chuck Lewis and his team of volunteers. “PLAN BEE” is a nine-month, no cost to the veteran, hands-on educational training program, in honey beekeeping. Upon completion, veterans are given all they need to begin their own beekeeping business. Lewis will provide a brief demonstration about the program, which supports our wounded and disabled veterans.
