Dennie L. Gasser, 72

Dennie L. Gasser died Aug. 30, 2019, of lung cancer.

Dennie was born July 19, 1947, in Polson to Wilda (McCracken) Gasser and Glen Gasser.

Dennie was the middle of 11 children. He had five brothers and five sisters. Dennie attended grade school in California, Libby and Pablo. He attended high school in Ronan.

Dennie got married when he was 17 and from that union had two children, one son and one daughter. The family moved to Columbia Falls in 1965 where he went to work at Plum Creek Plywood. He worked there for over 37 years, mostly as graveyard supervisor. He retired in 2001.

Dennie was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and, most of all, golf. His many golf accomplishments include 15 holes-in one and 10 club championships at Village Greens. He especially loved playing or watching his daughter and grandchildren in their sports. He also enjoyed traveling out of state to visit his son in St. Louis and later in San Diego.

Dennie married Karyl Hills Beck in 1995. They moved to Kalispell to Village Greens.

Dennie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Karyl; one son, Shane Gasser, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; and one daughter, Lena (Wes) Baertsch, of Ronan; three grandchildren, Kayla Couture of Missoula, Shayla (Mick) Cheff and Carston Baertsch of Ronan; one great-granddaughter Kadynce Couture, and one great-grandson Royce Couture of Missoula; and three brothers, including Glen and Bennie of Kalispell, and three sisters.

There will be a celebration of life at 2:30 p.m. on September 21 at the Village Greens Community Center after a golf tournament in his honor.
