David 'Dale' Fredenberg, 93

David “Dale” Fredenberg, 93, of Kalispell, passed away Sept. 14, 2019, at the Vets’ Home in Columbia Falls.

Dale and his twin were born to Anson and Ruth Fredenberg on June 14, 1926, at their grandmother’s home in Kalispell. Dale was the 11th of 16 children, Dale worked tirelessly as a child on the family farm. He left home at the early age of 17; enlisting in the Navy, he served his country until the war’s end.

Dale married the love of his life, Jean Naumann, on the 10th of February 1951. To this union were born seven children. He retired from the railroad after many years of service, at the age of 59.

Dale also played a variety of percussion instruments as well as the harmonica at several dances around the country. At the age of 59 he taught himself how to play the fiddle.

David was preceded in death by his daughter Nina Freden-berg.

David is survived by his wife, Jean Fredenberg; and his children Alan Fredenberg, Virgil Fredenberg, Hazel Riebe, Connie Bush, Anson Fredenberg and Harlan Fredenberg. There will be a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory. A reception will follow services at Sykes Diner from 2 to 4 p.m.
