Avery, Mercer winners at Kalispell Invite
Golfers from Glacier and Flathead claimed medalist and team honors at the Kalispell Invitational at Buffalo Hill Golf Club on Thursday.
From Flathead, Marcella Mercer and Jillian Wynne finished first and second in the girls’ field.
Mercer shot 82 for 158 and Wynne carded 89.
Tyler Avery of Glacier topped the boys field by shooting 70 (the day’s best) on Day 2 for 145. Avery trailed Day 1 leader, Hamilton’s Tristan Hanson by two strokes. Hanson finished fourth.
Alana Griffin of Glacier placed third with 86 strokes for 173. Abi Manger was 15th. Also in the girls top 25 for Glacier were Blayke Foppiano, Stella Claridge, and Hannah Nikunen and Allee Meyer for Glacier JV.
Kianna Storm, McKinlie Murer, MJ Reed (JV), Kendall Pyron (JV) and Sophie Dykhuizen were in the top 25 for Flathead girls.
Coby Kunda, Will Salonen, Sam Manaker Ethan Purdy (JV) and Trey Engellant cracked the top 25 for Glacier.
Also in the top 25 were Flathead’s Joston Cripe and Columbia Falls; Tyler Langton.
Trey Kelley of Polson was third.
Flathead won the girls team title with 778 points and Glacier was second at 797.
For the boys teams, Glacier claimed top honors with 628 points; Flathead was fourth and Columbia Falls placed ninth.
