Bob Kieser, 83

| September 20, 2019 4:00 AM

Bob Kieser, 83, died Sept. 6, 2019, in his sleep.

He was born in Riverside, California, in 1936. He was proud to have been part of the 129 original students in the new University of California, Riverside campus, where his name is forever inscribed in cement.

Bob always dreamed of playing ball for the Dodgers, or of becoming a classical pianist. In real life, he procured a degree in political science and went to work as a social worker for the state of California. He loved talking baseball with younger son, Michael, and politics with older son, Scott. Locally, his true love was singing with the Glacier Chorale, with which he enjoyed membership for 22 years. He had been looking forward to singing with them again this season.

Bob loved nature and especially camping by a body of water. His lack of familiarity with tools was legendary; a hammer was swung like a baseball bat. He had a great sense of humor and was able to laugh at himself. In late afternoons Bob enjoyed his daily martini while listening to his vast collection of classical music.

He was a truly good man, wonderful husband to his surviving wife, Jackie, and attentive father to sons Scott of Seattle and Michael of San Antonio, Texas. He is truly missed.
