Longtime county employee Tim Harmon recently joined the staff of the Majestic Valley Arena as the general manager and facility director. He will start work Oct. 1.

For the past 17 years, Harmon served as the maintenance supervisor for the Flathead County Fairgrounds. The addition of Harmon to the staff will allow arena owners, Bob and Jan Parker, to step back from managerial duties and “slow down.”

Harmon, 57, is a resident of Evergreen and has lived in Montana nearly all his life. He said he was drawn to the job because of the opportunity to work in the private sector and to broaden the scope of events held at the arena.

“I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of the Flathead in my new position,” Harmon said. “I’m thrilled to go to work for Bob and Jan Parker, who have done so much already through Majestic Valley Arena to bring things to the valley and provide entertainment.”

The arena opened in the spring of 2002 and is known for hosting equestrian events like the Brash Winter Rodeo, bull riding and barrel racing. Harmon said he is planning to bring in a greater variety of acts to the arena floor so locals don’t have to drive outside the valley to Missoula or Spokane for quality entertainment.

“We’re going to be open for business to all events,” he said. “Primarily, the Majestic Valley Arena is obviously an equestrian center, but we have the ability and are going to expand our event calendar to include non-equestrian events.”

The arena’s pavilion will also be available to rent for weddings and other gatherings.
