Whitefish's Shaw, Kahle shine at Western A golf
FRENCHTOWN — Ella Shaw and Cameron Kahle of Whitefish were earned divisional titles and Whitefish won the girls’ team title at the Western A Golf Divisional Tournament at King Ranch Golf Course on Thursday.
Shaw and Corvallis’ Macee Greenwood both shot 85, so a one-hole playoff was needed to decide the girls’ medalist.
That was far from the case on the boys’ side, where Kahle won by a seven strokes over Tristan Hanson of Hamilton.
Anyah Cripe, Megan Archibald and Anna Elm of Whitefish finished in the top 10.
Johnny Nix placed seventh for Whitefish.
Tyler Langton of Columbia Falls placed fourth and Marcus Kilman was 14th.
Whitefish boys finished second overall, nine points behind first-place Hamilton. Columbia Falls was fourth.
Polson girls were fourth in the team standings. Cali Cannon was Polson’s highest-placing golfer, finishing in eighth place.
The top 30 players will go on to compete at the state tournament in Laurel on Oct. 3-4.
