FVCC hosts online fundraising workshop for nonprofits

| April 11, 2020 1:00 AM

For many local nonprofits, fundraising can be a challenge, but a new online workshop offered by Flathead Valley Community College may help pave the way to greater success.

The Continuing Education Center at FVCC is offering the workshop, “I’m Expected to Fundraise — Help!” to help nonprofit board members better understand their role in fundraising. Sessions will be held at 6-8 p.m. on April 15 and 22 for a cost of $65 per person. Leading the workshop is certified fundraising executive Chany Ockert.

“With the Whitefish Community Foundation’s Day of Giving coming up on May 5, this class will give confidence to board members who will be asking people to support their organization,” Ockert said.

She will define the process of fund development, how fundraising relates to good board governance and practical ways for board members to be involved in fund development beyond making the actual ask for money.

Ockert specializes in adapting fundraising best practices and lessons across sub-sectors of nonprofits. In 2016, she was awarded the certified fundraising executive designation based on demonstrated, measurable success in fundraising. In 2019, she obtained a certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource.
