Flathead resident dies of coronavirus
The Flathead City-County Health Department on Monday morning confirmed the first death of a Flathead County resident related to COVID-19 in Flathead County.
The person was over the age of 65 and had underlying health conditions, the health department stated in a press release. The person lived in the county, but no other information was made available.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the patient’s family and friends,” said Hillary Hanson, Flathead City-County Health Department Health Officer. “We want to remind our community about the importance of staying at home. We must work together to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.”
As of Monday seven COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in Montana, including the Flathead case. Statewide there were 394 confirmed cases, with 171 of those individuals considered to have recovered. There have been 47 hospitalizations. Nearly 9,000 people have been tested for the virus.
Thirty-six coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Flathead County, with nine recoveries, according to the county health department.
