Doris E. Sloan, 93

| April 15, 2020 1:00 AM

Doris E. Sloan, 93, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2020. Her large, dispersed and quarantined family was with her in spirit.

She was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Lewistown to Gus and Myrtle Nicola; her father an orphaned Balkan refugee and her mother a saintly Indiana Quaker mail bride. She was the youngest of two daughters. She graduated from Missoula High School in 1943 and joined the war effort in Seattle; there she met her life’s love, a discharged Marine, Joe Sloan. They married and settled in Kalispell, raising four sons, a family business (Sloan’s Appliance) and an occasional roof. Her great loves were her husband, her sons, their children and wives, her religion, duplicate bridge, and a good steamy novel. A long-lived life leaves many loved ones behind.

She is survived by her son Michael (Rebecca) their daughter Katherine; son Steve (Cheri) their sons Brian (Amber), Adam (Kimberly) and Robert and his son Spencer; Virginia (Don Loranger) sons Nathan (Amanda), Peter (Kimberly); and her greatest joy, her great-grandchildren Mya, Corban and Marley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, granddaughter Bailey and son James.

She was successful at living a good life and at preparing her loved ones to live on without her. She will remain forever cherished in our hearts.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
