Richard Marvin Phillips, 93

Richard Marvin Phillips, 93, passed away on Aug. 7, 2020, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Richard was born on Nov. 19, 1926, to William G. and Goldie Irma (Black) Phillips in Chino, California.

Richard attended and graduated from Chino High School. He was a Future Farmer of America and held numerous certifications for small engines Stihl and Husqvarna.

In 1945 Richard was inducted in the United States Navy, serving his country honorably during Pearl Harbor where he guarded the beaches after the attack.

Richard married Rose Marie Hudson in Cottage Grove, Oregon, in 1954. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. Richard was a logger for 30 years and owned his own saw shop for 25 years in Brookings, Oregon.

Richard was very active in his church. He loved playing bingo, gardening, woodworking, fishing, the Senior Center in Kalispell, and just spending time with his family. In his later years he enjoyed traveling and doing his bucket list adventures, one being Mount Rushmore. It was a great experience for him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Allen, and brother William Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; daughters, Vickie Phillips and Beckie Bronson; and son, Ken Phillips; sisters, Marilynn Hazel and Dorrane Buehler; brother, Darryl Phillips; grandchildren, Ryann Phillips, Whitney Wilson, Amanda Bronson, Nathan Bronson, Mathew Phillips and Jason Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Wilson, Melody Wilson, Emma Wilson, Sam Wilson and Carter Phillips.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Family Life Christian Church, 1075 Foy’s Lake Road, Kalispell. Scattering of Richards ashes will take place at a later date in Oregon with a celebration of life held there.
