Elderly cyclist does her own thing

A caller told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office a woman in her 80s wearing a neon yellow and green jacket with black biker shorts was riding a bike on her property. She said the bicyclist was riding on everyone’s property and it had been an ongoing issue. When the caller asked the woman to stop riding on her land, the bicyclist said she could ride wherever she wanted.

The pastor of a local church called to report the church building was vandalized by someone spray-painting the exterior. Unfortunately, there was no surveillance footage.

A wanna-be burglar got more than he bargained for when the homeowner stopped his advance inside the home with a gun. The caller said an intoxicated, shirtless man broke in through a window in the laundry room. The suspect ended up pinned to the ground by the man. When officers took him away, the alleged offender spent some time kicking the inside of the patrol vehicle.

Three large horses escaped before the caller corralled them in a field and shut the gate. He wasn’t sure if the horses belonged at the location or not.

An accidental 911 caller said her phone was “freaking out” and she didn’t mean to call.

Someone reported a break-in of a cherry stand in Lakeside. A window was broken and a latch was messed up but nothing was stolen.

An unmanned boat sunk in Flathead Lake while tied to a dock. The caller said he needed another boat to tow it.

A caller reported falling victim to a scam after he sent them two gift cards worth $2,500.

A fishing trip at the lake involving two individuals turned sour after one hit the other several times. The caller reported having a sore neck.

Someone said “Mark” and “Amber” from Oregon were cussing and not following the rules at a green box site.

A man came home, saw the sliding glass door open and noticed a few items missing. He said the door was locked but if it’s jerked a few times it will open.

Someone considering buying land in the county had questions about firearms use at the property.

A man whose trailer is about to be moved said he has a bunch of wild cats living underneath it and was wondering about getting some traps set up.

A caller said some older kids were bullying younger kids on the swing sets by pointing a knife at them. Law officers were on the scene, but no one was found and neighbors in the area hadn’t seen anything.

A woman said she received a half-full bottle of hand sanitizer in a package with an address in China. She said it had tape over the top of it and she used gloves to handle it. She was advised to call the federal anti-smuggling hotline.

A woman said she loaned two guns to a man who refused to return them. She didn’t want to pursue charges if he returned them, but initial law enforcement efforts to reach the man were unsuccessful.

A woman said the president of the homeowners association kept coming to their door and talking about the pandemic. She said her husband is being treated for cancer and wants the person to stop harassing them. She didn’t want to press charges but said she’d call back in the person returned.

Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department about a previous noise complaint call. She alleged the noise makers didn’t quiet down, were rude and now she is concerned about backlash.

A caller didn’t like the odors emanating from the cabinet maker neighbor’s property and said he couldn’t walk in his backyard due to the chemical smells. He said he wasn’t getting any help and had enlisted an attorney to assist him.

Someone said a man driving a cream-colored older Chevy pickup was revving the engine and doing burnouts in the area. The girlfriend’s mother said she would tell him to knock it off.
