| December 14, 2020 12:00 AM

Jacqueline “Jackie” Elaine Nix, 84, passed away Dec. 7, 2020, at The HealthCenter, Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Jackie was born in California. She met her husband, Mel, at high school in Elk Grove, California. They were married 56 years until Mel’s death in 2012. Mel’s work for Texaco, Inc. took them north to Eureka, California, Eugene, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. After retirement in Seattle (1991), their close friends, Jim and Betty Ault of Whitefish, encouraged them to consider relocating to the Whitefish area. Mom and Dad loved the area, the people, and the recreation opportunities of the state.

Jackie was a homemaker; she loved her family, friends, and neighbors. Hospitality was her gift — welcoming all to their home. Much of her life was spent serving those around her in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, youth group leader with Mel, Cub Scout den leader, Brownie leader, and classroom mother. Jackie continued to pursue her education as an adult taking classes at the local community college while being a busy wife and mother of two middle school children. Her time was also spent caring for others, including her beloved ladies circle group and newsletter group at Christ Lutheran Church. Jackie and Mel loved their granddaughters, Holly and Hana! They had so much fun together and received great joy from one another.

Jackie and Mel’s entire married life was filled with cherished pets who joined them on their recreation adventures. Jackie was a compassionate, loyal, and sweet-natured woman with a servant’s heart who was loved and admired by all who met her.

Jackie is survived by her son, Stephen (and Tammy) Nix; daughter Ruthmarie (and Mark) Wright; two granddaughters Holly and Hana; a sister Barbara Kubacki; a sister-in-law Lucy D’Angelo and numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life service will be held Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 5150 River Lakes Parkway, Whitefish, MT with Senior Pastor Dan Clites officiating. Darlington Cremation and Burial Service assisted the family. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the Whitefish Fire Department and emergency room staff/HealthCenter staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center for their outstanding and compassionate care of Jackie.
