Glacier boys scrimmage, meeting tonight

Glacier High School has a pair of boys’ basketball scrimmages scheduled for Thursday at the Glacier gym.

The freshmen and sophomores are going at 4 p.m. and the varsity and junior varsity tip off at 5:15 p.m.

Immediately after the varsity scrimmage an all-program parent meeting will be held in the gym.

Third Lady Griz

game canceled

The Montana Lady Griz learned Tuesday that Utah Valley had a positive COVID-19 case in its program and is cancelling its game at Dahlberg Arena scheduled for Dec. 21.

It’s the third cancellation for the Lady Griz this preseason, though they’re looking to make that game up or find another opponent before Christmas.

Tinkle released by Lakers

Missoula Hellgate and Oregon State product Tres Tinkle was released by the Los Angeles Lakes on Sunday, apparently without getting a chance to suit up for the NBA champions.

Tinkle signed an Exhibit 10 contract on Nov. 10, meaning he would receive an invitation to training camp and a $50,000 if he was waived and signed to the Lakers’ G League affiliate.

Tinkle never made it to camp because of COVID-19 protocols.

Tinkle led Hellgate to the Class AA state championship in 2013 and is Oregon State’s career scoring leader with 2,233 points.

Dowler, not Dauer

A player in the Glacier boys’ basketball preview that ran in Wednesday’s Daily Inter Lake was misidentified.

Noah Dowler is a 6-6 sophomore for the Wolfpack.
