Whistling for Dixie in Whitefish

| December 26, 2020 12:00 AM

A Chihuahua named “Dixie” was reported missing after she escaped from a yard in Whitefish. Fortunately, Dixie was found soon after the call.

An accidental 911 call resulted when a man was outside playing with his dog. All was well.

The sound of an idling pickup truck led to a call to the police department. The caller said the truck owner starts the truck every morning at 7 and doesn’t leave until 8. The man called later in the week and was frustrated with the ongoing situation and said “the guy and I are going to have issues.” He said the idling vehicle wakes him up. An officer said an idling vehicle doesn’t violate the “disturbing the peace” statute. An officer planned to talk to the truck owner and said he hoped the dispute could be resolved.

A package wrapped in masking tape and marked “MS13” resulted in a 911 call. Tests for various types of narcotics were negative and further examination showed it to be a flower.

An unlocked vehicle proved to be an attractive target for a thief. A brief case with a laptop, charger and other small items was taken along with a six-pack of beer.

A man who lost his fake tooth threatened to trash an apartment. He said he was sick, threw up in the bathroom and lost the tooth. He then fished the tooth out and put it next to the bed. But in the morning, he couldn’t find it.

A man called to report he lost an envelope with $1,200 in it while at a carwash. Fortunately, Santa Claus came early when one of employees there returned the missing money.

Someone reported a missing bike and thought a friend may have removed it. He said the Huffy bike was painted with “splatter” colors.

An unoccupied vehicle did appear as if someone was sleeping inside. A later check was planned by an officer.

Suspicious looking vehicles turned out to belong to men working at a nearby construction site.

One man reported the unlocked back door of his home was wide open when he awoke. He also said his truck had been moved to an alleyway and the keys left in the vehicle.

The pastor of a church said someone smashed the windows and mirrors of his vehicle and also slashed the tires.
