| December 27, 2020 12:00 AM

Myrtle (Moon) Geis passed on Dec. 16, 2020, in Kalispell at the age of 95.

Myrtle was born to Edley Moon Sr. and Viola (Hill) Moon on Jan. 31, 1925, in Kalispell. The family lived at several places in the valley and settled in the Foys Lake area. There, Myrtle was joined by two sisters and a brother. She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1943.

After high school she went to Bremerton, Washington, where she worked at the Navy shipyards, first in making ammunition and repairing aircraft and finally in office work. While there, she boarded with a family from Choteau, Montana, and there she met the family’s son, Harry Geis, while he was there on leave from the Marines. They were married on Sept. 28, 1944. They moved to California, where Harry served at Camp Pendleton and Myrtle worked in the office. It was here their first daughter was born on their first wedding anniversary. After a year and a half they came back to Kalispell to make their home and here their second daughter was born in 1948.

During her younger years Myrtle worked as a seamstress for many people and at Butterys Department Store for many years.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Vi Moon; her husband, Harry Geis; daughter, Sharron Robertson; and many, many dear relatives and friends.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter Frances “Frankie” Moore and son-in-law Don Moore, her sister Marge Manning, brother Edley “Bud” Moon Jr. (Joyce), all of Kalispell, and sister Helen Baird (Al) of Burlington, Washington; five grandchildren, Donetta White (Brett) of Edmonton, Alberta, Derrick Moore (Spring), Michael Bump (Penny) of Kalispell, Shell Bump, Kim Lillie of Colorado; 17 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; as well as man nieces and nephews.

There will be no services as per her request. There will be a celebration of life at a later date; spring or early summer of 2021.

We would like to say thank you to the staff at Prestige Assisted Living in Kalispell for taking such loving care of Myrtle for the last three-plus years.
