FVCC Theatre production traces discovery of DNA

FVCC Theatre’s production of “Photograph 51” opens Thursday, Feb. 20, in the campus theater located inside the Arts and Technology Building. Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 to 22 and Feb. 27 to 29.
Based on a true story, “Photograph 51” is set in the 1950s and follows scientist Rosalind Franklin, an underappreciated genius working as the sole woman in the race to unlock the mysteries of DNA. When one of Franklin’s photographs, Photograph 51, shows the structural outline of DNA for the first time, her competitors are rapt with attention.
“’Photograph 51’ is both a searing character study and modern tragedy set amid a historical scientific event,” FVCC associate professor Rich Haptonstall said.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and free for students. They can be purchased online at www.fvcc.edu/theatre, in the FVCC Bookstore or at the box office prior to any show.
