Whitefish Theatre auditions for Jane Austin-favorite production

| February 13, 2020 3:50 PM

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a spring production of “Sense and Sensibility” Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Plan to arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script. Enter at the north side of the building near the conference room.

A smash hit when it premiered in 2014, this exuberant adaptation of “Sense and Sensibility” brings a comic, theatrical flair to Jane Austen’s perennial favorite. The Dashwood sisters — prudent Elinore and impulsive Marianne — find their world turned upside down after their father’s death, which robs them of their wealth, social standing and, most importantly, chances for marriage. Mix in a few dashing love interests and a gaggle of gossipy socialites, the sisters must learn to mix sense with sensibility — their opposite temperaments — to find true happiness. Called “inventive, faithful, clever and hilarious,” this marvelous play will delight Austen fans and novices alike.

The large cast will be composed of multiple male and female roles for ages 18 and up. One role is for a girl age 16 or older. Adults of all ages are encouraged to audition, along with high school and college age students. No experience is necessary and no preparation is required for the audition. Nancy Nei is the director for this production.

Rehearsals begin in February and will be held Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 or 10 p.m. There are seven performances over two weekends, on April 9 to 11 and April 16 to 19.
