Voice heard, but no one in garage
Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a person in their garage. The caller initially heard a female voice then saw a man looking out of the garage door. An officer determined it was unfounded.
A person reported a vehicle parked at a storage unit. When an officer investigated, he learned it was an older couple waiting out the storm before they continued driving. The man was advised of his warrant.
A man allegedly stole $200 from his stepfather before running away. He was described as wearing dark colored clothing, including a sweatshirt, jeans and black tennis shoes. A warrant check showed he has some pending charges. He was later taken into custody. Later, the accused said he wanted to press charges against his stepdad because he held him down when he was trying to take the money and other items.
A caller said he had located his stolen vehicle and that it had been totally stripped.
An accidental 911 call came from a man who was coughing intensely. A return call to the number wasn’t answered and the voicemail wasn’t set up. The prior history with the phone number was a 911 call a few weeks ago, a missing child, a theft and a resulting citation. Another attempt to reach the caller was successful and everything was OK.
A former housekeeper who apparently became a transient was still getting into actual lodging rooms, despite efforts to re-key the rooms. The manager wanted him barred from being on-site, which he was.
A motorist reported he believed he was following a drunk driver. The alleged DUI suspect was driving a white Chevy Blazer with a snowboard on the roof. The caller said the driver nearly hit a pedestrian and then wouldn’t proceed at a stop sign. When the caller attempted to speak with the iffy driver, he apparently had a drink in his hand. The information was also passed on to Montana Highway Patrol.
Someone reported a fraudulent check had been written on her deceased father’s account.
A person picked up a brown Lab mix that belongs in the area but the tenant lets it run loose. The animal was later taken to the county animal shelter.
A woman said she was being harassed on social media by her sister-in-law. The person was advised to pursue a temporary restraining order or no-contact order. She was given a phone number for future reference.
Yet another person was recently served a restraining order and came to the county sheriff’s office to ask a deputy some questions.
Someone reported finding a money clip on their front porch and the person thought it was suspicious. The clip had a shopper’s card with it and the people didn’t know the person. The caller said they are worried their home is being cased.
