C-Falls girls run wild over Libby

COLUMBIA FALLS — The Columbia Falls Wildkats started off Northwest A conference basketball play the right way on Thursday with a 62-18 drubbing of the Libby Loggers at Columbia Falls High School.

Columbia Falls is undefeated at 6-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

“It was good to get off to 1-0 conference wise and have real balanced scoring,” Wildkats coach Cary Finberg said. “It was nice to see a lot of kids contribute. A good solid game to get the first conference win.”

The Wildkats led 31-8 at the half and their 62 total points is a season high.

LaKia Hill led Columbia Falls’ balanced scoring attack with 11 points. Maddie Robison added 10 points and nine rebounds.

For Libby (1-5, 0-2), Mackenzie Proffitt and Julia Martino scored five points.

EUREKA — Michael Shea drained a triple at the buzzer to give the Eureka Lions the edge over the Whitefish Bulldogs.

The game was tied 30-30 before Shea’s shot.

Shea scored 11 points for the Lions, who are 6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Maggie Graves added 10 points for Eureka.

For Whitefish, Jadi Walburn led all scorers with 12 points.

EUREKA — Talson Holmquist scored 17 points and the Whitefish Bulldogs beat the Eureka Lions.

The Lions led 20-15 at the half but the Bulldogs scored 20 in the second half to pull away.

Cory Chaney was Eureka’s high scorer with 13 points.
