West Glacier, Olney-Bissell cancel school

West Glacier Elementary canceled classes Monday due to extreme winter weather impacting the area. Olney-Bissell School near Whitefish also canceled classes due to a power outage.

All other Flathead County schools were on regular schedule, as of 7:40 a.m., according to the Flathead County Superintendent of Schools.

Severe driving conditions with drifting snow was reported Monday morning along U.S. 2 from West Glacier to Marias Pass, according to the Montana Department of Transportation. East of Kalispell, U.S. 2 was snow covered with high winds reported near Happy’s Inn.

U.S. 93 from Kalispell north to the Canadian border was snow covered, with about 2-4 inches of new snow reported.

A winter storm warning was in effect through noon Monday for the Flathead Valley. Wind chill values were expected to dip to near minus 10.
