Week two of filing for the 2020 election set up a likely Republican primary battle in House District 11.

Dee Kirk-Boon, a former chair of the Flathead County Republican Committee, registered to challenge incumbent Derek Skees. Skees has represented the district – which covers much of the lower Flathead Valley and northeast corner of Flathead Lake – since winning the seat in 2016.

Skees has not officially filed yet, but announced last year he will seek re-election for a final term.

The winner of that primary would be highly likely to win in the general election, as Skees took 71% of the vote in 2018.

Amy Regier is the other new challenger to file this week. She filed to run for House District 6, which is up for grabs as current representative Carl Glimm is term-limited from running again.

Four other candidates, all Republicans, filed for re-election to their current seats: Matt Regier in House District 4, Mark Noland in House District 10, John Fuller in House District 8 and Keith Regier in Senate District 3.

Keith Regier is the father of Matt and Amy Regier.
