Alleged car thief apprehended following chase
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 34-year-old Kalispell man Thursday evening following a vehicle chase in Evergreen.
Arthur Lee Palmer reportedly crashed a stolen vehicle on Rail Park Drive, but was still able to continue driving, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. He fled eastbound in the westbound lane on U.S. 2 until spike strips were deployed at Rail Park Drive and Flathead Drive.
Palmer then fled on foot near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Montana 35 and was apprehended by officers shortly after.
Palmer was wanted for being a parole absconder and is currently being held in the Flathead County Detention Center pending multiple felony charges.
The incident occurred at 9:45 p.m., and the Montana Highway Patrol and Kalispell Police Department also assisted in the pursuit.
The Sheriff’s Office reminded the public not to leave vehicles unlocked or running.
