Whitefish's Voisin earns X-Games bronze
Whitefish freeskier Maggie Voisin soared to a podium finish in women’s slopestyle at the X-Games in Aspen, Colo., on Sunday.
Voisin, 21, finished in third place, behind gold medal winner Kelly Sildaru and silver medalist Sarah Hoefflin.
Voisin’s bronze marks the fifth X-Games medal of her career. She won a slopestyle bronze in the 2019 X-Games, slopestyle gold in 2018 and slopestyle silver in 2014 at just 14 years old. She placed third in women’s ski big air at X-Games Norway in 2017.
Earlier in the week at Aspen Voisin placed sixth in women’s ski big air.
Voisin spent much of the last year recovering from a torn ACL, with to goal of getting back on the slopes in time for X-Games in Aspen.
“I think having a goal in mind helped,” Voisin told the Inter Lake last week prior to the competition. “It kind of kept me going in a sense. I wanted to get back for this, and I wanted to be back stronger than ever.
“I’m just happy and so grateful to be back – I have a new fire to ski better and better. I’m just looking forward to the comeback.”
