Bigfork second at divisionals; ready to host state
Bigfork High School Speech and Debate placed second at Class B-C divisionals in Shelby over the weekend.
The team scored 73 overall points. Assistant Coach Charlie Appleby said it was the first time in 11 years the team didn’t win, but was pleased with the team’s performance nonetheless.
“I am super happy with how well our small team competed,” Appleby said. “We still took second place to a rising and well-coached team out of Great Falls Central. It was a long day, but the kids responded by giving their best performance of the year.”
The team will host the Class B-C state tournament on Friday and Saturday. The first debate round begins at 10 a.m. Friday and drama at noon.
On Saturday, all events begin at 8 a.m. with an awards ceremony slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
