The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a man into custody after a standoff in Hungry Horse on Tuesday evening.

According to witnesses, the man ran into a vacation rental on River Drive earlier in the afternoon and asked the renters, who were in the hot tub at the time, for a place to hide.

A man in the hot tub, an active duty Air Force veteran on vacation with his wife, said he shoved the fugitive out of the house, the veteran told the Hungry Horse News. The fugitive then ran down the road, apparently with police in pursuit, and took refuge in another house. The veteran declined to give his name, but he described the suspect as a male, about 5-11, with long black hair pulled into a “man bun.”

At about 5:15 p.m., a large boom could be heard near the house the suspect had entered.

The suspect was taken into custody about 7 p.m.

Scanner reports indicated the fugitive may have been hit with a Taser during the initial pursuit.

Numerous law enforcement responded to the scene including the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia Falls Police Department, the Kalispell Special Response Team, Montana Highway Patrol and others.
