Twins win big on Thursday at Sapa/Johnsrud tourney

WHITEFISH — Jacob Polumbus had a grand slam and Stevyn Andrachick doubled in the second inning to help the Glacier Twins defeat the Northern Lakes Mountaineers 9-1 on Thursday at the Sapa/Johnsrud Memorial Tournament.

Zach Veneman pitched a three-inning no-hitter and struck out eight batters.

Jaret Taylor scored the Mountaineers’ only run in the fourth inning.

WHITEFISH — Despite giving up three runs in the third inning, the Yakima Pepsi Beetles got the best of the Libby Loggers in a 7-5 win at the Sapa/Johnsrud Memorial Tournament at Memorial Field on Thursday.

Zane Brown pitched five and a third innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits. He struck out two batters.

Tripp Zhang led the Loggers with two hits at the plate, as well as a triple and and an RBI.
