Polumbus pitches, hits Twins over A Lakers
WHITEFISH – Jacob Polumbus backed his own pitching with a double and two sacrifice flies, and the Glacier Twins held off the Kalispell A Lakers 4-2 in a Western A Legion game Wednesday.
Polumbus pitched six innings and left with a 4-0 lead; the Lakers (16-16) rallied against Trenton Tyree and George Robbins in the seventh, getting a two-run single from Ayden Driear with two out.
Robbins then got a fielder’s choice grounder to get the save.
Austyn Andrachick’s RBI single and Polumbus’ first sac fly put the Twins (26-15) up 2-0 in the first. The lead grew to when Polumbus doubled and came around on Tyree’s single in the fourth; Andrachick tripled and scored on the second Polumbus sac fly in the sixth.
Polumbus scattered six hits and walked none, striking out three. Joe Shlegel went six innings for the Lakers, allowing seven hits and four runs, just one earned.
