Health officials with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes on Friday confirmed four positive COVID-19 cases on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

A clear line of direct transmission has been identified linking all four cases, according to Lake County-CSKT Unified Command Center Public Information Officer Robert McDonald. He said public health nurses are working with the positive patients and their close contacts to ensure that everyone is tested and quarantined.

The cases are the first in Lake County since April.

“Health officials are aware of a high level of concern in the community, which can drive up demands for testing,” McDonald noted.

The Command Center asks that people who do not have symptoms, but want to be tested, attend one of the four mass testing events next week at the following locations: Arlee Pow-Wow grounds on June 17, SKC gym parking lot on June 18, Polson High School June 19 and Elmo Pow-Wow grounds on June 20.

People with symptoms should contact their primary health-care provider to request testing.
