Bicyclist fatally struck by car in Bellevue, Washington

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — A bicyclist died Sunday after being struck by a driver attempting a left turn in Bellevue, Washington, authorities said.

Officers and medics responded to reports of a bad accident near Lake Sammamish at about 4 p.m., police said.

A 63-year-old Newcastle man who was found with severe injuries was transported to a hospital where he died shortly after arriving, KOMO-TV reported Monday.

The scene at the intersection of 8th Street and Northup Way was closed for investigation, but has since reopened.

No information was immediately available about the driver.
