Crews douse fire at old CHS silos

A fire broke out in the old CHS Feed Center silos Tuesday afternoon in downtown Kalispell.
A few flames showed from the top of the silo along with smoke.
Crews using a ladder truck from the Kalispell Fire Department sprayed water on the fire until the smoke stopped.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office officer showed up with a drone to give firefighters a better look at what was going on, according to Kalispell Fire Chief Dave Dedman.
A passerby said workers were cutting up the silos and sparks may have caused the fire.
Dedman said while the exact cause wasn’t known, he said sparks from cutting may have caused the blaze.
“They are cutting up the metals silos for scrap metal to sell,” Dedman said.
