Alleged thief leaves incriminating evidence behind
A caller reported someone rummaged through her car and had stolen $400. The suspect left his phone at the scene of the crime. A Kalispell Police officer called the alleged thief’s mother and she was going to bring him to the station for an interview.
Someone reported a non-threatening bobcat in her and her neighbor’s back yards in Kalispell. It was not moved along, according to the Kalispell Police Department.
A Florida man based in Oregon working with the Republican Party was canvassing for votes when his presence raised the ire of a citizen. The caller said the man walked on to people’s property and was taking photos. His identity and work was confirmed by a police officer and the man’s boss.
An out-of-state condo owner was tipped off by a neighbor of a person parking in the caller’s carport and in the handicapped spot. When an officer checked the location a few minutes later, there was no one there.
The old gift card scam was perpetrated on a young woman. She reported she received a call from someone posing as an IRS agent and said her Social Security number was compromised by someone in Texas. She was told she owed the IRS $3,500 and she had to pay it in gift cards or she’d be arrested. She purchased the gift cards from two chain stores and gave the PIN numbers to the man who called. An officer advised the young woman of the fraud and suggested she contact the stores to get refunds. The phone numbers of the scammer were from burner phones.
The presence of a mud-covered white truck with a cattle guard drew a homeowner’s attention when it was parked in front for 10 minutes. The truck then moved one block and the person driving the vehicle drove away. A check by an officer turned up nothing.
A sporting goods store chose to not pursue an investigation into the alleged theft of a crossbow and knives by a group of men in an older blue truck.
A veterans services employee reported a veteran had made threats against her and also believed he was being followed by the FBI and there are bad people in the world. He believed she was one of the bad people and said she needed to die. The man was from East Glacier but had come to the Flathead for firewood.
An 18-year-old man was concerned his father was going to beat him up after they argued over politics. The young man said his father gets angry when the two of them disagree. They were separated for the night.
A woman said someone smashed a window in her home and it was politically motivated.
A man sleeping on the back deck of a real estate office was moved along.
A transient man with a hatchet and other weapons in a shopping cart was removed from a store and barred from returning after he repeatedly threatened store employees.
