Take a tour of downtown Kalispell murals
While Northwest Montana’s weather varies by season, there are certain things that can always be experienced, no matter what Mother Nature brings.
One of Kalispell’s year-round activities is seeing the colorful murals that adorn downtown. With an assortment of outdoor and indoor murals and paintings, locals and visitors alike can soak up Kalispell’s unique scenery — both past and present.
Three of note are “It’s Going to Be Okay,” “Jeanette Rankin” and “MMIWG.” All are recent additions to Kalispell and share distinct messages and stories: a message of hope during the pandemic, the first woman elected to Congress, and raising awareness about missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.
Other murals include the iconic 10-cent coffee cowboy at the 100-year old Sykes Diner, a colorful train that sits atop the grain elevators, and outdoor scenes found in abundance around Northwest Montana.
No matter when you visit, take a self-guided tour to see how many of this mountain town’s murals you can spot, as each tells an important story to Montana, the Flathead Valley and Kalispell.
