State fire crews were called to a wildfire at Hubbart Reservoir south of Marion on Tuesday.

Initially reported at 2 p.m., at 1 acre, the fire had grown to 10 acres by 5 p.m. and 70 acres by 6:30 p.m.

It was burning in grass, brush and timber.

Fire personnel were working to stop the spread with aircraft, and a dozer was ordered for containment lines.

No structures were threatened and no road closures were ordered.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Another wildfire was burning in the Indian Creek drainage, south of Middle Thompson Lake and north of the Bend Guard Station on Southern Pines land.

Crews were fighting the 80-acre blaze, which was reported Tuesday morning.

A cause was not listed for the fire.

Fire officials remind people to be diligent when out in the forest recreating. Make sure campfires are dead out, and refrain from debris burning until the area receives a significant amount of moisture.
