Darvin D. Struck, 69

| October 11, 2020 12:00 AM

Darvin D. Struck passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2020, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center from an accident experienced at home. Darvin was born Sept. 23, 1951, to Clarence and Irene (Averman) Struck; he was raised on the family farm in Evergreen. During Darv’s early years he worked alongside his dad and older brother logging and working the family farm. Each fall the family went to Rudyard, Montana, to help his mother’s brother with the grain harvest.

Darvin graduated from Flathead High School in 1969; he then attended Flathead Valley Community College, graduating with a forestry degree in 1971. After pursuing a short career in forestry from 1971 to 1973, Darvin started his own log trucking business and then a scale business, which kept him busy for many years. Darv eventually went back to his first love, being a farmer; he was farming hay right up to the time of his passing. Darvin was always available to helps others and being a “fix-it” kind of guy, loved the challenge of repairing small and large engines alike.

Darvin's happy place was the Thompson River cabin; he was on the board of directors of the Thompson River Drainage Association for 10-plus years. Darvin was an adventurous man who thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors; he could often be found motorcycle racing, fishing, hunting, boating, cross-country skiing, getting firewood or riding the four-wheelers. In his quiet time, playing the guitar and singing were his joy. Both his family and friends will miss him greatly.

Darvin is survived by his wife, Kim Struck, at the family home; daughter, Jenny (Struck) Rodriguez; and daughter-of-the-heart, Amanda Swanson; son, Andy Struck; and son-of-the heart, Tony Trebas; along with four grandchildren.

An outdoor celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the family’s home, 521 E. Cottonwood Drive, Kalispell. Refreshments will be provided.
