Kalispell man dies in crash near Creston

A 34-year-old Kalispell man died Thursday morning in a crash involving a vehicle and semi.

According to Montana Highway Patrol, the 34-year-old was driving a Honda Civic northbound on Montana 35. For an unknown reason, the Honda was steered abruptly and skidded into the path of a Peterbilt Conventional truck traveling southbound, hitting it head-on. Both the vehicle and semi slid off the shoulder of the road.

Troopers were dispatched to the scene of the crash at mile marker 39.8 at 6:35 a.m. The 34-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 60-year-old Kalispell man driving the semi was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts according to Montana Highway Patrol. Road conditions were bare and dry. Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered factors in the crash.
