Flathead girls third at Missoula cross country

MISSOULA The Flathead girls’ cross country team ran as a group Thursday, but Missoula Hellgate did the same and faster at the Missoula Coaches Invitational meet.

Lilli Rumsey Eash led a 9-15-17-18-20-21 finish by the Bravettes, who finished third out of seven teams with 58 points. Hellgate’s Sage Brooks was individual champion at 18 minutes, 38 seconds, and the Knights finished 1-2-4-11-12-13.

Rumsey Eash ran the 3.1-mile course in 19:59; teammate Hannah Perriin was 15th at 20:55.

Glacier’s top finisher was Bailey Gable, who was 23rd at 21:53; the Wolfpack finished sixth in the girls’ team standings.

On the boys’ side Flathead was fourth and the Wolfpack was fifth. Missoula Sentinel won the team title with 20 -- Spartans finished first (Tanner Klumph, at 15:58), third, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth.

Gabriel Felton finished 15th for Flathead, which had 110 points, running the course in 17:58. Glacier, with a score of 125, was led by Ethan Strand’s 20th-place finish. He clocked 18:30.
