Cross Country: Reynolds, host Eureka lead the way

EUREKA – Eureka’s Isaac Reynolds won his second race of the year, Whitefish junior Paetra Cooke was the winner among the girls and their schools won the team titles at the Eureka Quad at Indian Springs Golf Club Friday.

Reynolds’ Friday time of 17 minutes, 6.96 seconds leads Class B runners, and Thompson Falls’ Justin Morgan ran the second-best time Friday while finishing second: 17:08.27.

Gavin Bates was fifth for Eureka, the defending State B champion. The Lions scored 25 points to 30 for Whitefish.

Jacob Hensonaa and Mason Genovese led Whitefish, finishing 3-4.

Whitefish took three of the top five spots in the girls’ race, led by Cooke’s time of 22:18.71 - 85 seconds ahead of runner-up Maya Carvey of Eureka. Whitefish had 21 points to Eureka’s 34.

Among Class A teams the Whitefish boys are ranked second while the Bulldogs are No. 5 among girls’ teams, according to www.athletic.net.
