LAW ROUNDUP: Don’t give a dog a bone
A man’s neighbor reportedly wouldn’t stop giving his dogs food and bones, so he called the Kalispell Police Department and said his dogs have food allergies and bones get stuck in their throats. He said he has already taken the dogs to the vet to get bones removed. Officers instructed the well-meaning neighbor not to throw treats because she could be held liable if the dogs get sick. She said the dogs stick their heads through the fence and officers advised her to contact them when it happens, but told her she should probably fix the fence.

On one occasion he was wearing a firearm on his hip and knocked on her door to tell her, “If there are any problems around here, I’ll take care of it.” Another time, he purportedly knocked on her door and walked right in when she opened it, and he screamed at her. Now, he was supposedly playing loud “satanic music” outside his unit because he “knows she hates it.”
A man had questions about what type of radar gun police use after he received a ticket and said he was “retired law enforcement and unhappy with getting a ticket after only being in the county six months.”
A woman with young children was concerned about men sitting in a vehicle parked in front of her house because they had been there for 30 minutes and thought it was suspicious they were making phone calls. She told officers she just wanted to make sure they weren’t a threat to her and her family and that there were “no malicious intentions.” The men, who were leaving as police arrived, told officers they were homeless, were at a shelter to see if there were open beds and were on their way.
A balding man with a backpack allegedly tried a door at a childcare building then wandered into someone’s yard and laid down. He then headed northbound on Third Avenue West North.
A woman reportedly stopped to give a man lying on the ground some water and when he laid back down she thought someone should check on him. Officers checked on the man, who was inebriated and planned to sit in the grass.
A woman trapped a beagle mix in her backyard and told officers it gets out often and had been picked up twice before. The dog was transported to the shelter where officers requested a vet examine it due to skin irritations that it reportedly had when officers picked it up a few months ago.
Someone at a call center in Kalispell allegedly told police a man called them saying he was shot in the leg and bleeding, but didn’t tell them where he was before hanging up and it was unknown where he was calling from. Officers attempted to locate the man.
A man told police a suspicious woman in a vehicle took a picture of his daughter when she went outside to confront her and it was captured on video footage from a security camera. The woman was supposedly looking for a man named Jim who was going to sell her a television.
