Wolfpack soccer outkicks Butte for clean sweep

Sisters Taylor and Reagan Brisendine combined on two goals, and between them had three goals and five assists as Glacier downed Butte 8-0 in girls’ Western AA soccer Friday at Glacier High School.

Taylor Brisendine opened the scoring in the seventh minute; she assisted on both of Reagan Brisendine’s goals as the gap grew to 5-0 early in the second half.

Madison Becker had three goals and two assists for the Wolfpack (6-2-0), which outshot the Bulldogs 24-0. Kate Sheldon and Ady Powell also found the net; Taylor Brisendine’s third assists set up Sheldon, and Becker set up Powell’s goal. Ellie Keller also had an assist, on Becker’s second goal that made it 3-0.

“It felt good,” Glacier coach Brenden Byrd said of the rout. “You look at the stats and see names like Taylor Brisendine and Kate Sheldon - these are players that are no longer overlooked by teams.”

Butte fell to 0-8-0.

Senior midfielder Daniel Camp scored a hat trick for the Glacier Wolfpack in a 7-0 rout of the Butte Bulldogs Friday in a Western AA soccer game.

Camp opened scoring two minutes in, Zane Elliott added two more goals and Harrison Sanders scored just before the half to give Glacier a 5-0 lead. Camp scored his second goal of the half at 18 minutes.

Camp connected with Bridger Dalla Betta in the 62nd minute before his hat trick goal at 71 minutes.

Glacier is now 5-2-1 and second in Western AA behind the undefeated Hellgate Knights.

“Just a really great team effort,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said. “Working through all of the challenges this week with air quality and not a lot of ability to train for long or at high intensity … they were able to put together a solid game.”

Butte is 1-7.

The Wolfpack travels to Helena High Thursday for a 5 p.m. game.

WHITEFISH - Brooke Roberts scored off a feed from Sophie Olson in the 46th minute, and that goal held up for Whitefish in a 1-0 girls’ soccer victory over Columbia Falls Thursday.

Whitefish coach Roland Benedict was most proud of the shutout against a Wildkats team that had scored 19 goals in three matches coming in.

“Our back line stayed strong against a dynamic attack,” Benedict said, singling out Isabelle Cook, Emma Barron, Anna Akey and Olson.

Columbia Falls fell to 3-1-0 and Whitefish improved to 3-0-1.

LIBBY - Kaden Nelson scored three goals to lead Polson past Libby 6-0 in a Northwestern A boys’ soccer game Thursday.

Nelson’s first two goals made it 2-0 at halftime; in the second half Ashten Nelson, Anthony Lichtenberg and Elijah Taylor also found the net for the Pirates.

Taylor assisted on Lichtenberg’s goal; Cade Lanier, Keith Erickson, Zevan Walker and Landon Becker also had assists. Keeper Tristan Clifford made five saves for Polson, which outshot Libby 24-5.
