Libby wins big over Polson; C-Falls routs Browning

LIBBY — Special teams and Dawson Young played major roles in Libby’s big 42-6 win over Polson in a key Western A football game Friday.

Young ran for 270 yards and two touchdowns -- and after his first 5-yard scoring run, the Loggers executed a successful onside kick. They took advantage with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jay Beagle to Ryder Davis and a 14-0 lead at 5:21 of the first quarter.

Davis had a huge game with three touchdowns. When Libby’s defense held he returned the ensuing punt 43 yards, setting up a 4-yard TD run by Ryker McElmurry.

After Polson got on the board via a 20-yard interception return by Trent Wilson, the lead grew to 28-6 on Young’s second TD.

Before the half ended Davis returned another punt 51 yards, this time for a touchdown; in the third quarter he scored Libby’s final TD on a 39-yard run. Davis had 73 yards rushing. Libby racked up 419 yards, 370 of it on the ground.

Young got in on the special teams show with a 58-yard, field-flipping punt. He also completed a 33-yard halfback pass.

Libby improved to 4-1 in league and overall. Polson fell to 3-2, with sophomore quarterback Jarrett Wilson limited to 158 passing yards and no touchdowns. He also ran for 43 yards.

BROWNING — Isaiah Roth caught two touchdown passes in Columbia Falls’ Northwestern A football road win Friday.

Mason Peters completed 8 of 18 passes for 219 yards and four touchdowns for the Wildcats (4-1). His scoring passes covered 11 yards to Gabe Sanchez, 58 yards to Cade Morgan and 55 and 18 yards to Roth.

Roth caught four passes for 116 yards and was also Columbia Falls’ leading rusher with 18 carries for 51 yards.

Peters also ran for a score for Columbia Falls, and Rowdy White had scoring runs of nine and 22 yards.

Columbia Falls outgained Browning (0-5) 316-223.
