Eacker, Copping pace Bravettes’ track dual win

MISSOULA — Kelcey Copping and Rebecca Eacker each won two events Friday and the Flathead Bravettes scored an impressive dual win over Missoula Sentinel to open their track and field season.

Copping swept the 100 and 200 sprints, winning the 100 in 13.18 seconds at MCPS Stadium. Eacker won the discus and shot, marking 34 feet, 9.25 inches in the latter.

Overall Flathead won 12 of the 17 girls’ events, including both relays, to outscore the Spartans 88-57.

Other winners were Cerise Lee (400), Lilli Rumsey-Eash (1,600), Hannah Perrin (3,200), Skye Thompson (300 hurdles), Tali Miller (javelin) and Hania Halverson (pole vault).

Brooke Stayner won three events for Sentinel: High jump, 300 hurdles and long jump.

Flathead lost the boys’ dual 114-31 to the defending (2019) state champions, who got three wins from Jace Klucewich and a hurdles sweep from Drew Klumph.

The Braves got wins from Jackson Walker in the 400 (55.46 seconds), Logan Lang in the shot put and Nicolas Gustafson in the triple jump.
