Gerald W. Sampson, 68

| April 14, 2021 12:00 AM

Gerald W. Sampson, 68, passed away on April 8, 2021, at his home in Kalispell.

Gerald was born on Sept. 23, 1952, to Paul and Juanita (Landon) Sampson, in Kalispell. He was raised in the Flathead Valley and attended grade school in Hungry Horse and middle school in Columbia Falls, and his high school years in Polson.

In 2007, Gerald married the love of his life, Deanna Drewniak-Jahnke in Las Vegas.

Gerald was a well-rounded truck driver. He logged for a time, drove logging trucks and finally became an over-the-road trucker. This was his last and most favorite. He was making weekly trips to California for his nephew Micah Sampson, who he thought more of a son.

Gerald not only worked hard but played hard too. He loved to spend time on his pontoon boat on Flathead Lake. When he wasn’t chauffeuring all the ladies around he was pulling the kids on tubes. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, golf, baseball and his favorite college football team Alabama – Roll Tide.

Gerald was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rasmus and Sylvia (Bauer) Sampson; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Frances Landon; and his father, Paul Sampson.

Gerald is survived by his mother, Juanita Sampson; his wife, Deanna; his children, Toni Sampson, and Geri (Monty) Smith; his stepsons, Joseph and Wally Drewniak; his brother, Lloyd (Deann) Sampson; his sisters, Teri (Bob) Cothren, Carrie Sampson and Debbie Richardson; his grandchildren, Arielle (Ben) Leisman, Meghan (Adam) Strizak, and Cameron Lee (Bella) Smith; his great-grandchildren, Everette and Miller Leisman, Quinn Strizak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald is very loved and will be forever missed.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell. We will have a reception following service at the Eagles in Kalispell. Everyone is invited to join us to celebrate Gerald’s life.
