Law roundup: Biden bucks get shredded
A man returned to his old home to retrieve some mail, but the current residents told him they had shredded it, including his stimulus check. He wasn't sure what to do, but a dispatcher told him to call the IRS and have it reissue the check. It was also suggested he let the post office know his new address and what had happened to his mail.
Someone told a man others were using his phone to commit phone scams, but when a deputy from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office called he couldn’t leave a message because the mailbox was full.
A woman reported her 2-year-old cat was high up a tree and had been there for three days. She said she put food out to entice it, but it hadn’t budged.
Someone reported jewelry was stolen from her unlocked house which is still under construction.
A caller said a dump truck turning around in his driveway lost some of his load. He called the company, but no one had returned his call. He wanted to know what to do. An officer left a message.
An officer told some tourists to move their vehicle off the railroad tracks while they took photographs.
A homeowner said when he went into his garage he realized someone was there. The intruder took off, but the man said he wouldn’t be calling anymore because he had called several times before and he would take care of it himself the next time. Fortunately, police caught up with the stranger and the homeowner was counseled on the matter.
A woman called to report horses at her residence that didn’t belong to her. They included a bay mule, a sorrel and a paint. She said she would hold on to them for the time being. She called later to report the owners were found.
A friend checking on a person’s home reported a dirt bike in a shed that didn’t belong to the homeowner.
Someone said people had driven past his home taking photos of his dwelling.
A son said someone stole his mom’s phone out of her car while she was inside the gas station. A later call determined the device was at a friend’s home.
Someone found a vehicle stuck in the snow and there were tracks walking north where it was impassable. An officer later spoke with the owner and a tow was going to extract the vehicle in the morning.
A woman who works the night shift called about the neighbors riding their dirt bikes and lawn tractor with no muffler while she tried to sleep. She also wanted to speak to an officer about an ongoing issue with the neighbors dumping dog poop outside her window.
A rancher with more than 300 head of cattle said another person had torn his fence down three times in an effort to get to Forest Service property.
Someone reported finding a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with its steering column removed and no license plates. A vehicle identification number check showed the Jeep was not stolen, but it was severely damaged and most likely abandoned. A form was submitted to the county junk vehicle program for its removal.
A man with two minor warrants for his arrest in Washington reported an air compressor and a 50-foot house were taken from his driveway in the last few hours.
A brother reported his sibling missing after he rode his bike to a sporting goods store. He said his brother had back problems after being hit by a car a few years ago, but was OK other than that. The sibling called later to report his brother was home safe and he had been fixing his bike.
