Whitefish hires new Muldown principal
The Whitefish School Board on Tuesday approved the hiring of a new principal at Muldown Elementary.
After narrowing from a field of 29 applicants and interviewing six candidates for the role, Catey Nasello was selected as the new leader for grades K-4, according to a media release from the district.
Nasello currently serves as principal at Hirsch Elementary School in Tracy, California. She holds a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fresno, and a master's degree from Concordia University, Irvine. She also holds a K-8 multiple subject teaching credential and K-12 administrative services credential.
“The rigorous and comprehensive screening and interview process for the selection of the new Muldown principal included gaining feedback from stakeholders regarding characteristics of the next principal,” said Dave Means, superintendent, who presented the recommendation to the school board on Tuesday. “The screening and interview group considered and included these characteristics throughout the process.”
The interview group consisted of 13 members including three administrators, the superintendent, one classified representative, and eight teachers representing all grade levels and different programs within the building.
Nasello is anticipated to begin work on Aug. 9 to ensure a smooth transition with outgoing principal. Linda Whitright. Whitright previously announced her plans to retire at the end of the school year after 28 years with the Whitefish School District, —10 of those as principal of Muldown.
“Linda’s service and enthusiasm for Whitefish Schools has been exemplary and she will be missed by the educators, children, and families of the Whitefish School District,” said Means.
