Mohl has 3-homer game, Glacier splits pair
HELENA — Glacier got a huge game from Kynzie Mohl — three homers, eight runs driven in — to beat Capital 14-11 and then settled for a split of a Western AA softball doubleheader Saturday.
Helena High walked off the Pack 9-8 in the second game on Ashlyn Lamping’s two-out, two run homer.
Mohl torched the Capital Bruins for one three-run homer and two 2-run shots. In the sixth inning she was intentionally walked with the bases loaded for her eighth RBI.
Kenadie Goudette had two doubles and scored twice for Glacier, which trailed 7-5 and 11-8; leadoff hitter Kenna Vanonry had two hits and scored three times against the Bruins.
In the second game Helena scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to solve hurler Ella Farrell, who fanned 11 in a solid outing.
“Ella pitched well,” Glacier coach Abby Connolly said. “We had missed opportunities, both baserunning and with chances to get outs. Ultimately, we didn’t back her up as well as we needed to.”
Goudette had three hits against the Bengals and drove in two. Mohl, Sammy Labrum, Emma Cooke and Halle Schroeder all had two hits. Labrum and Vanorny scored twice.
The split puts the Wolfpack’s record at 6-1, 3-1 in Western AA games. Glacier’s next game is Tuesday against crosstown rival Flathead, at 3 p.m. at Kidsport.
